Jersey's Ultrasound

Posted by Silver Mist Meadows on June 16, 2012 at 12:35 PM

On June 16, 2012 we took our three Jersey's in for ultrasounds to see who was in calf.  Well, lost of information came out on that visit.

We found our beloved Jillian has ovarian cysts that is affecting her ability to conceive.  The vet  said that a medication may help her conceive so we are trying that first.  If that doesnt work we will AI her.  We know she has been able to conceive previously this way so we will go that route if the medication didnt work.

Whipcream, as expected, is indeed in calf.  On July 7, 2012 she went on to have a bull calf.  He is growing very fast and very well.  He was named T-Bone.  Whipcream proved to be a very good mom, she has nursed and cared for her calf since the begining.  This was her first calf.

Anne Bell was also found to be in calf as we expected.  We had estimated she would be due the begining of August, but as of today, August 31, she still has not delivered.  Her bag in the last week has gotten huge!  She started to swell and widen so we are hoping to have one soon.  I am just hoping the calf isnt too big since the vet thought she would have it a month ago.  Here is to hoping for a healthy heifer!
